Netflix To Exclusively Stream CW Shows Eight Days After Season Finale

Fans of The 100, Supernatural and Vampire DiariesNetflix is about to be your new best friend (if it wasn’t already). The streaming service has just signed a multi-year deal with The CW to stream all past seasons of the network’s shows online in the U.S. — all the network’s shows. This means you get iZombie, you get The Originals, you get The Flash, and you even get that new miniseries Containment. Speaking of Containment, our excitement cannot be contained.

Netflix already has streaming rights to some of our CW favorites, but it always seemed incredibly outdated. We’d have to wait ages after the show actually aired to finally binge watch it. Starting later this year, we’ll be able to stream the newest seasons of the CW’s shows just eight days after the finale airs.

Head of Netflix content, Ted Sarandos, spoke about the new deal in a statement. He said, “Netflix members in the U.S. love the great lineup of series from The CW, and we are thrilled to extend the relationship and bring those shows to our members exclusively now, just eight days after their season finales.”

Netflix is really stepping up their game. We used to have to wait about a year to watch new seasons from networks like The CW, but it seems like the streaming service is trying to remedy that. Hulu has long allowed users to watch episodes the day after they aired, which hurt Netflix subscriptions. Though many people have both Hulu and Netflix subscriptions, Hulu was always gunning for the TV fans, while Netflix catered more to movie lovers. Now it looks like the content gap is being bridged, and we’re curious to see if Hulu has a counter attack.

Netflix has had a few major wins recently. A month ago, the company announced a deal with Disney that will give the streaming service exclusive rights to Disney’s entire catalog.
