‘Hooters’ Knockoff Gets Its Own Show

Canz Show VH1 Long IslandVH1 is going for the gold with this new show. Fed up with washed-up rock stars searching for “love” (see: Sexually Transmitted Diseases) and women who are marginally famous for being the bratty wives of successful athletes, the former music network aims to bring a new element to their lineup: scantily-clad, large-breasted women shilling hot wings and beer. “Hooters?” you might ask. “Nay,” we would say. The subject of this lowbrow docu-series is not the iconic wings and tiny-tank-tops restaurant chain, but instead a lesser-known Long Island knockoff with the same concept and a much crasser moniker: Canz. The “z” is for extra class.

Of course, this show isn’t supposed to be about how these girls fit into their impossibly tight shirts, but rather “what it’s like to be a Canz girl.” It’s an exploration of their real life issues, dreams, failures, conflicts, yada-yada-yada. You know, things regular people deal with on a daily basis. It’s not about their cup sizes, okay? So if that’s the case, why did the VH1 folks choose to set this in a Canz restaurant and not the New York Public Library? Besides, VH1, when Hooters turns you down, you should know it’s time to call it a day.
