“All of a sudden everybody in the U.S. and everyone in New York City came together in a very close way that was quite astonishing. People that just days before you were having the worst criticism of and were opposed to on every issue politically, you were suddenly a comrade of and they were all joined together against a mutual enemy…. When it happened, we weren’t prepared for the irrationality of it.”
