Quick Rap with ‘American Idol’ Castoff Kristy Lee Cook

[IMG:L]After spending four of the past six weeks in the bottom three, Kristy Lee Cook was finally eliminated last week from American Idol. Here’s what the 24-year-old country singer from Selma, Oregon, had to say about her time on the show.

On judge Simon Cowell, whose predictions for Cook were always less than optimistic:
“I believe that he was just being skeptical because I started out kind of weak. I was struggling the first three weeks [with] being sick, and recovering took awhile. I think I outlasted what he thought because I started getting stronger towards the end, and I was getting in the comfort zone of some of the songs that I’ve been used to and that I’ve done for awhile. So I was starting to come out of the shell and sing the songs that I’m comfortable with and the ones that I knew that I could sing well.”

On the man to whom she sold her horse in order to afford a cross-country trip to audition for Idol:
“I’ve talked to him a few times, and he doesn’t want to sell. He’s really attached to him because he’s such a good horse. But the least I could have asked for was a good home, and he got a really good home, so I’m happy with that. But it does kind of suck that I won’t be able to get him back as my own horse.”

On celeb run-ins during the taping of “Idol Gives Back”:
“I actually met Carrie Underwood, and I met Robin Williams. And Gloria Estefan. Those three were my favorites that I met. I didn’t get to meet Brad Pitt, however. But Carrie Underwood… She came all the way back to make sure that she got to meet us and say hi. And she’s so nice to take time out of her night to come out and see how we were enjoying everything. So I did enjoy meeting everybody.”
