1. Friday, October 13, 2006, for its ongoing badass reputation. The prequel to Friday the 13th, which documents hockey-masked Jason Voorhees’ early years, is set for tentative release on that date.

2. Sexy Sin City star Jessica Alba, for her perceived perfectionism. The actress was No. 1 on Askmen.com’s Best Girlfriend Material list. More than 2.5 million fans of the online magazine voted for their ideal partner.

3. Snowboarding champ Danny Kass, for taking a stance against celebrity swag. The Olympic silver medalist, who owns winter sportswear store Grenade Gloves, said he hates being pressured into giving free clothes to stars: “Justin Timberlake‘s come around a few times, and we give him a bunch of clothes. You’d be surprised–the guy has sold millions of records and still, there’s nothing better than free clothing.”

4. The Lord of the Rings star Andy Serkis, for getting real. Serkis, who never physically appears on screen as LOTR’s slithery character Gollum, has been cast as a bona fide person in Batman Begins director Christopher Nolan‘s new movie The Prestige.

5. Twentieth Century Fox, for creative thinking. The studio has given the fitting release date of June 6–that’s 6-6-06–for the remake of classic 1976 horror movie The Omen.

6. The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, for sweet taste. Crap films The Dukes of Hazzard and Son of the Mask are leading the 26th annual Razzie nominations. The ceremony celebrates the worst films of 2005.

7. Actor-director George Clooney, for making Oscar history. Clooney is the first star to be nominated for Best Director for Good Night, And Good Luck, and Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Bob Barnes in Syriana.

8. Director Ang Lee for multilingualism. The Brokeback Mountain and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon filmmaker made Oscars history Tuesday when he became only the second director to be nominated for films in different languages.

9. Filmmaker Werner Herzog, for mysterious heroism. Joaquin Phoenix, who overturned his car on a canyon road above Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood last week after his brakes failed, has revealed he was helped from the wreckage by the German cult director. “I remember this knocking on the passenger window. There was this German voice saying, ‘Just relax,’” Phoenix said. “And suddenly I said to myself, ‘That’s Werner Herzog!’ I got out of the car and I said, ‘Thank you,’ and he was gone.”

10. Singer Billy Joel, for breaking a record. The musical star has beaten Bruce Springsteen’s Madison Square Garden record after selling out 11 consecutive nights at the New York City music Mecca. Springsteen’s recorded 10 sell-outs at Madison Square Garden in 2000.
