[IMG:L]Back and better than ever
Finally! The New Adventures of Old Christine returned after a six-week hiatus. The new episode opened with Christine unable to shut her brain off at bedtime. Sleep deprived and suffering from a stiff neck, Christine seeks relief–and a prescription–from her chiropractor, where she runs into her ex, Burton, who is still reeling from their break-up six months ago. (How is it Christine manages to get herself into the same situations as me? She takes a sleeping pill that prompts her to make late night phone calls she doesn’t even remember. OK, with me, it was a Miller Lite, but still.) It’s not until the next morning when she wakes up refreshed does Christine realize she professed her love to all her friends–including Burton. She goes to dinner with him to see if the feelings are still there, but the magic is definitely gone. So gone that she needs to take another sleeping pill to get through the meal. But turns out Burton’s been popping some happy pills of his own and Christine’s the one who ends up getting dumped.

Can someone please explain to me how Sanjaya is still on American Idol? I can’t figure it out. He is so awful that I find myself fast-forwarding through his “performances.” I’m actually embarrassed for him! To be fair, everyone seemed to be struggling Tuesday night. The Top 12 chose songs by the “Music Mentor” of the evening, Diana Ross. Many forgot the words, while others changed the chords of the song so much that it was difficult to recognize the original melody. But not Sanjaya. He didn’t change a thing…except for his hairstyle. He was sporting some Shirley Temple curls and gold hoop earrings. Joining him in the bottom three were Phil and Brandon. Lucky for Sanjaya, the adolescent girls and probably boys found it in their hearts to vote him into the next round and sent Brandon packing his bags instead And so, the suffering continues for yet another week.

The writers of Lost are finally getting their act together and letting us in on the some of the islands secrets. I’m not referring to the polar bears and black smoke. I’m talking about how the characters are all connected. For starters, Claire is a genius. She not only manages to stay out of trouble on the island but she comes up with a way to get them off of it as well. No guns involved. We also learn two of the castaways are actually brother and sister. To learn more, click here for Hollywood.com’s Lost recap.
Back from the dead
After surviving hypothermia, Grey’s Anatomy‘s Meredith is back to her cynical self. Well, sort of. She’s trying to be more positive after her near death experience but it doesn’t last long. She attempts to have dinner with her father but ends up biting his head off. So much for “people are what matters…painted with all the colors of the wind.” Meanwhile, the honeymoon is definitely over for Callie and George. After finding out Callie is an heiress, he seeks solace with a bottle of liquor and Izzie. Who saw that morning-after scene coming? Of course they “ruin” their friendship with an all nighter and I’m sure it’s safe to say he’s ruined his marriage as well. That is if George tells Callie, which I’m sure he won’t…until Izzie ends up pregnant. I’m not saying this is a definite but the show has been so predictable these last few weeks that I’m not ruling anything out.

ABC’s new series October Road debuted Thursday after Grey’s Anatomy and it had all the drama of a WB show. The story revolved around Nick Garrett, a novelist who left home ten years ago to “find himself.” Not only did he neglect a tight-knit group of friends but also Hannah, his girlfriend at the time. After writing a best selling book that bashes the people in his former life, he returns home to find the town is not very welcoming of him or the novel. He also meets a young boy named Sam, Hannah’s 10-year-old son. That’s right, he’s 10. It doesn’t take a genius to figure this one out. However, we are assured from the beginning that Sam is “NOT” Nick’s son. Of course, that is until the end of the episode when Sam tells Nick about his peanut allergy; the same allergy Nick and every other male in the Garrett family are cursed with. Cue the sappy music.Suddenly, Nick has a reason to stick around. (Read Hollywood.com’s Q&A with October Road star Laura Prepon)
Fast Forward
Rumor has it someone on Lost is about to be kidnapped by “The Others.” We’ll also learn more about Nikki and Paulo: the two new castaways who started appearing on the island this season. Their flashbacks will give us an idea as to who they really are and how they got on the island. Also, after this week, you can expect a break from Grey’s Anatomy and How I Met Your Mother. These shows won’t air again until the end of April when May Sweeps begins.
