Wednesday: ‘Project Runway’

[IMG:L]Project Runway — 10/9c on Bravo

Bravo to Bravo for its too-hot-for-network-TV reality slate.

The once popular Queer Eye for the Straight Guy may be a goner, but the NBC-owned channel has a rising star in The Real Housewives of Orange County, a culinary classic in Top Chef, an Emmy winner in Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List and a veritable juggernaut in Project Runway, whose fourth season premieres tonight.

You know the drill: Contestants compete with each other to create the best clothes within a set time limit, amount of materials, and theme; their designs are judged and one or more designers are eliminated each week. And you know the drill sergeants: Heidi Klum (host/judge), Tim Gunn (mentor), Michael Kors (judge) and Nina Garcia (judge).

Tonight, before the show jumps into its feverish sew-off, we get to know the contestants a little more in-depth than usual–for just a few minutes, that is. Then it’s off to see the (sartorial) wizard, Gunn, as the games begin.

[IMG:R]Pushing Daisies — 8/7c on ABC
Still not watching ABC’s gem of a tragedramedy? Maybe this’ll help: Joel McHale, host of E!’s The Soup, guest-stars tonight as a murdered dog breeder/polygamist. Not exactly the high-profile cameo of, say, 30 Rock–with its Jerry Seinfelds and Al Gores every week–but the point is, watch the damn show before we lose it! Resuscitate the show about resuscitation.

American Skinheads — 9/8c on National Geographic
An inside look at the growing racist skinhead movement in the U.S., featuring interviews with group leaders, undercover investigators and law-enforcement agents. When did the National Geographic Channel join forces with the local news to try and scare the s**t out of viewers.
