Alec Baldwin Drops ‘Rock of Ages’

Alec BaldwinApparently, Alec Baldwin isn’t super into the idea of just slapping a bunch of old rock jams from the ’80s together, weaving in some type of storyline, putting it to film and calling it a musical.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor dropped out of the adaptation of the Broadway musical Rock of Ages, set to be directed by Adam Shankman. The announcement, honestly, comes as a bit of a surprise considering that Baldwin spoke on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon just last week about his excitement for the project, but, shit happens, we guess. Anyway, those concerned that his departure will make the adaptation less star-studded, fear not; there’s still like a zillion big names set to sing and dance their way through Poison covers, including Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Malin Akerman, Bryan Cranston, Mary J. Blige, Julianne Hough, and Diego Boneta.
