Columbia Pictures anticipated Men In Black 3 will see director Barry Sonnenfeld reunite with stars Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith, but according to the LA Times, another franchise veteran will also return: legendary makeup artist Rick Baker.
Baker confirmed his involvement in the threequel, telling the Times: “I’m just starting up now ‘Men in Black’, which is another one I wanted to do because I worked on the first two.” Before the sci-fi comedy series, he cemented his place in Hollywood history from his time spent working on Star Wars, The Howling, An American Werewolf in London, Cocoon, The Ring and many, many more.
His addition to the films production team is welcome, especially considering how so many feel that it’s coming years too late anyway. Men In Black 2, though a commercial success, was an artistic atrocity and I was happy saying goodbye to Agent’s Jay and Kay permanently at that point. If I must see them fight their way through a third intergalatic adventure, the silver lining is knowing that the aliens will look positively bad-ass thanks to Baker’s uncanny abilities.
Men In Black 3 is set to hit theaters on May 25th 2012.
