HBO To Drop First Trailer for Harry Potter Series on Wednesday

HBO has officially given fans their first glimpse of the highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series, marking a major milestone in the reboot of J.K. Rowling’s iconic wizarding world. The newly released image shows a young Harry Potter, played by Dominic McLaughlin, walking toward the Quidditch pitch on a snowy day while wearing his Gryffindor cloak. The cinematic still immediately sets the tone for a more detailed, serialized adaptation of the beloved books.

Alongside the newly released image, HBO also confirmed that a full teaser trailer will drop this Wednesday, further fueling anticipation among fans eager to see how the wizarding world is being reimagined for television. The post also included subtle nods to Hogwarts lore, including references to familiar characters like Fred and George Weasley, hinting that the series will lean heavily into beloved storylines from the original books.

The cast brings together a mix of rising talent and acclaimed veterans. John Lithgow will step into the role of Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, while Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout will portray Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Janet McTeer (Ozark) joins as Professor Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead) takes on the role of Hagrid, and Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You) will play Severus Snape in a fresh interpretation of the iconic Potions master.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO and president of global streaming & games, JB Perrette, has called the Harry Potter TV series “the biggest streaming event in the history of HBO Max and arguably in streaming, period,” emphasizing its massive scale and cultural impact. The ambitious adaptation is currently slated for a 2027 release and will retell all seven books, with each season dedicated to a single installment.
