George Clooney has met his challenge in Aaron Sorkin.
West Wing’s Sorkin will write The Challenge, a courtroom drama for Clooney’s Smoke House Productions, with Clooney possibly directing and playing the role of Navy lawyer Charles Swift.
The drama focuses on the effort by Swift and Georgetown law professor Neal Katyal to ensure a fair trial for Osama bin Laden’s driver, Salim Hamdan, who’d been held at Guantanamo Bay for five years.
The project was originally announced last summer after Warner Bros. and Smoke House optioned Jonathan Mahler’s book The Challenge: Hamdan v. Rumsfeld and the Fight Over Presidential Power.
