Probably not many people were aware that Memphis Beat was on TV, so probably not many people will mind that it is now off TV.
TNT decided not to renew the series, which stars Jason Lee as a Memphis police detective and Elvis-phile, after a brief two-season run. The news comes a little more than a more following the cancellation of its resident hospital drama, HawthoRNe.
TNT issued the following statement: “The network thanks everyone involved in the production of Memphis Beat for their work on the series, including the great cast and crew. TNT wishes everyone the best.”
This marks the second failed series for Lee, whose My Name Is Earl only lasted four seasons for NBC. Hey, at least he’s got those Chipmunks movies!
