As if there was any reason for us to love Adele more, the singer managed to cancel a show and still have us screaming, “Slay, girl, slay!” at our computer screens.
The 28-year-old singer has been a bit under the weather, and after pushing through a concert she probably should have cancelled as well, the singer’s voice succumbed to her cold. She was forced to cancel her Aug. 17 concert in Phoenix, AZ, but posted a heartfelt apology video on Instagram.
Let’s think about how we all look when we have a cold: our hair is sticking out in 19 different directions, our noses are bright red, the bags under our eyes could probably hold enough stuff that we don’t need to take a purse if we manage to leave our houses. This is not Adele with a cold.
In her video, she’s obviously sick, but she’s still flawlessly adorable. Girl isn’t even wearing an ounce of concealer (seriously, who can be bothered to put makeup on when you feel that sick?). Even if Adele looked absolutely wretched (which we think would be impossible) we doubt she’d care. She’d still post her makeup-free self on Instagram because she doesn’t front.
In the video Adele speaks with a raspy, nasally voice only a really bad cold could give you. She says:
“I can’t do my show tonight, my second show here. I’m really really sorry. I’ve had a cold for a couple of days, and I’ve been pushing through it, and I did my show last night and I loved it but I pushed too hard and my cold has gotten the better of me. And as you can hear, even if I did the show, it wouldn’t be very good.”
“I’m really really really really sorry to let anyone down,” she added. “Canceling shows has not been something I want to do and I’ve pushed through a lot of things. But I’ve been trying to sing all morning and warming up and nothing’s really happening.”
Aw, poor Adele! We hope you get better soon, but we also know that even on your worst possible day, you’re still millions of times better at singing than any of us. Don’t be so hard on yourself!
Adele’s been on a makeup-free kick lately. She recently posted this bare-faced selfie on Instagram showing that she truly has flawless skin and eyebrows. Seriously, when we’re makeup free we look like a blotchy mess, but that’s what Instagram filters are for!
