‘Girl Meets World’ Gives Cory and Topanga a Son — Where Have We Seen Him Before?

Teo Halm, Girl Meets World

Michael Jacobs’ young stars weren’t exactly newcomers before singing onto Boy Meets World. Ben Savage had two prior short-lived TV series to his name, Rider Strong had one of his own, and Danielle Fishel boasted a one-off portrayal of Jessica P. on Full House. But for Girl Meets World, Jacobs seems happy enough trusting his characters with relative newcomers: the showrunner has just cast Teo Halm to play Elliott Matthews, the son of Cory and Topanga and the older brother to series star Riley (Rowan Blanchard).

We haven’t seen much of Halm, who The Hollywood Reporter reports is officially on board for the series, on screens big or small. Unlike his new costars Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter — playing the Shawn to Riley’s Cory — Halm doesn’t have a résumé stockpiled with appearances on shows like Dance-a-Lot Robot and The Goodwin Games, or films like Spy Kids 4, The Back-up Plan, or Noobz. But our steadfast Boy Meets World devotion charged us to scour the Internet for any testament to Halm’s talents. And we’ve come up with a few bits. Fellow fans, judge accordingly!

Here is Halm in a self-made surfing video set to indie movie go-to theme, “Home” by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. If Philadelphia is swept up in a colossal monsoon, we know that Elliott’s survivalism will help the Matthews clan endure (while those infernal Kleiners meet their demise!).

Below, see Halm appearing briefly as a caveman in the third episode of the PBS series, Nova: Becoming Human. None too far a leap for Jacobs’ formula, as “neanderthal older brother” is an everpresent theme in the original series.

And finally, a video introducing Halm’s only film credit to date: writer/director Bill Barker’s short Waltham Vanguard, in which Halm plays neglected son Bud. While we imagine Cory to be as doting a father as one can possibly imagine, it’s good to know that Halm has some preteen angst in his back pocket for those very special episodes.

So what do you think of the newest Matthews?
