You know Samuel L. Jackson. It’s his duty to… host the 2012 BET Awards. It was announced on Tuesday that the Oscar-nominated actor/snake wrangler/unending quote generator/Siri user would emcee the show for the first time in his career.
Joining The Avengers star on stage for the event, which will take place on July 1 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles include nominees and performers Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj. While there’s no word yet if he’ll appear, awards show wild card Kanye West leads the pack for BET Awards nods this year, with seven total, including nominations for Video Director of the Year. West’s “Watch the Throne” collaborator Jay-Z followed closely with six nominations, while his wife Beyoncé earned five. Blue Ivy’s parents are both competing against Usher in the Video of the Year category.
