Cate Blanchett welcomes baby number three! Let’s take a look back at the new mom’s pregnancy …

Rumors started swirling back in October that Blanchett might be expecting, but it wasn’t until her Sydney premiere of Elizabeth: The Golden Age in November that she finally fessed up. The Aussie actress (pictured here with hubby Andrew Upton at the March 29 launch of the play The Year of Magical Thinking) told the Sydney Morning Herald, “Yes, yes, we’re expecting a baby in April, which is very exciting.”

Blanchett, who showed off her baby bump on every red carpet from the Screen Actors Guild Awards to the Oscars, doesn’t credit her award season glow to her bun in the oven; instead she tells Extra her porcelain skin comes from the SK-II skin care line. “Your skin changes when you’re pregnant,” she explained. “I think with hormonal shifts, it could’ve gone quite crazy!” The actress, shown above at an SK-II luncheon in February, was hired as the new face of SK-II back in October.

She tried to keep it a secret, but Blanchett accidentally spilled the beans about her baby’s gender while walking the red carpet at the Academy Awards in February (as seen above). The star, who was nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress in 2008, told People magazine, “He’s actually asleep – believe it or not, which bodes well.”

Their latest little one makes baby number three for the Blanchett–Upton clan. The couple, who wed in December 1997, have two sons; Dashiell John, 6, and Roman Robert who turns 4 this month. Blanchett, seen above on the red carpet at the Independent Spirit Awards, plans to raise the boys in her native Australia.

Fashion savvy Blanchett (above at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January) never disappoints when it comes to dresses, jewels or shoes, but when one Aussie MSN reporter commented, “You are carrying the ultimate fashion accessory,” referring to her bump, she whole-heartedly disagreed. “Oh, don’t say that, children are not a fashion accessory.”

Blanchett, pictured above at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in January, told Hollywood.com at the fest, “I like being where I am when I’m there rather than wishing I was someplace else. Making a baby is also quite fun [laughs] …When we told our little one he looked at me and said, ‘You’re kidding.’ But our oldest one is very excited … It’ll probably be a boy. I think that’s what we do.”

Blanchett kept busy throughout her pregnancy, including her duties as co-artistic chair of the Sydney Theatre Company, a position she shares with her playwright husband. Above, she poses with Giorgio Armani in November at a theatre company dinner held in his honor.

Blanchett, seen walking into the London premiere of Elizabeth: The Golden Age in October, once told journalists, “People often talk about pregnancy as if it’s an illness, don’t they, and the thing is I’m very fortunate to feel disgustingly well.”

Blanchett‘s new curvacious figure and loose and comfy clothing had press and fans speculating about her pregnancy as early as last September. Many thought the blue satin across her midsection on this dress was a clear sign she had something to hide when she arrived at the New York Fim Festival screening of I’m Not There in October.

Blanchett (seen above at the Los Angeles premiere of Elizabeth: The Golden Age on Oct. 1) confessed to W magazine just a few weeks prior to her big announcement that her and Upton were planning on expanding their family,”We’re not going to wait forever. God, I’d love it to be now. I’d love it to be next week.”
