You may remember supermodel/actress Angie Everhart from her role as a semi-nude seductress in 1996’s Bordello of Blood. Or, more gossip-oriented folks may remember her brief engagement to Sylvester Stallone in 1995.
Regardless, you’ll be seeing a lot more of the 32-year-old redhead this fall on NBC‘s new Sunday-night drama UC: Undercover, playing Carly, the bad-ass girlfriend of William Forsythe‘s fugitive character Sonny.
Everhart spoke with Hollywood.com on Monday, about the show, her character and how the Sept. 11 attacks have changed society as a whole:
How’s shooting going?
Everhart: Well, it’s been a rough couple of weeks, as I’m sure you can imagine, with all the World Trade Center stuff. We shoot the show in Vancouver and basically got stranded up there for a while. It was rough for a lot of the cast members–they’re almost all from New York. But it’s a good show. Good producers.
Did the events of Sept. 11 delay your introduction to the show?
Everhart: No, just pushed back some things. But it’s affected everyone so much–you can just see it on their faces. I mean, you don’t have to be American to feel it. It’s everywhere. And, honestly, I don’t think the threat is going away anytime soon. We’re going to be dealing with this for a long time.
Most likely. Well, speaking of the show, you play a new character, Carly, Sonny’s girlfriend. But she’s not exactly the nicest person in town–what attracted you to this role?
Everhart: Yeah, she’s definitely a bad girl. Certainly a lot tougher than I am, that’s for sure. A lot more hardcore. It’s challenging, but when you get to work with people like William Forsythe and Ving Rhames, it’s worth it. I guess what attracted me was [series creator] Shane Salerno telling me, “We’ve got a good part for you. She’s tough, smart and able to hold her own with the bad guys.” That did it.
William certainly plays one intense guy–Sonny–but is he the complete opposite in reality?
Everhart: Actually, William himself is a very intense guy. He really is. But he’s great. You can joke around with him, no problem.
Now, you’ll be in five or six more episodes?
Everhart: I’m supposed to be in six. But I think they’re keeping me around a while longer than expected. Of course, I’m not allowed to talk about that.
Yeah, you’re probably not allowed to talk about much. Are you forbidden to reveal any future storylines?
Everhart: Um, I’ll tell you this: Carly ends up making some interesting…negotiations with Sonny. [Laughs]
“Negotiations.” Nice. Care to elaborate on that, buddy?
Everhart: Lemme think…. No. [Laughs] Not allowed!
This is actually your second venture into TV. You had a brief stint on the short-lived Dream Team [a series about a group of crime-fighting supermodels]. Is that a show you’d rather forget about?
Everhart: Hey, whatever I can do where they’ll pay me, I’ll do.
Sweet. So is the small screen where your acting career is heading?
Everhart: No, I like films more. That’s what I really want to do. With films, you have more time. It’s just a better way to work, ya know? I mean, I’d do a TV series if it was my own series, but that’s not the case right now.
Any film projects on the horizon?
Everhart: Yeah, actually. I’ll be in one coming out soon with Daniel Baldwin.
What’s it called?
Everhart: Well, that’s a little up in the air. [Laughs] The title keeps changing on us.
Work in Progress, starring Angie Everhart.
Everhart: [Laughs] That’s about right.
