Tony Scott’s ‘Unstoppable’ Trailer

ALTWe’ve got the trailer for Tony Scott‘s upcoming runaway train disaster thriller Unstoppable right here, won’t you have a look?  It’s sort of what you would expect from the director of The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (2009) and Deja Vu (2006), which is to say, a healthy serving of hackneyed dialogue, some promising action sequences, and the dramatic stylings of longtime Scott collaborator Denzel Washington.

There’s really no way I could accidentally tell you too much about this movie, since you’ll get a pretty good feel for the plot from the trailer below – unless, as I suspect, there are last-minute twists of some sort (the train is just a projection of Cobb’s subconscious!  It was all just Denzel’s dream!).  Anyway, Chris Pine (Star Trek) stars opposite Washington as a rookie railroad engineer with pecs (thank you unnecessary opening shot) and ‘tude (“I don’t like workin’ at a retirement home,” he snaps wittily).  Then, all of the sudden, there’s an unmanned runaway train carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals heading straight for a sleepy Midwestern town!  And it doesn’t have any brakes!  Why is this happening?  I don’t know, but Rosario Dawson helpfully explains that what we’re dealing with is really “a missile the size of the Chrysler Building,” so the stakes couldn’t be higher.  But wait – there’s also another train on the tracks filled with innocent blond schoolchildren?  You just got Tony Scott’d.

Honestly this one looks pretty generic to me – it’ll make for a great hung-over Sunday afternoon HBO time-waster a year from now – but maybe you disagree?  Check it out:
