Jerry Bruckheimer, who knows a thing or two about producing, and Dwayne Johnson, who knows a thing or two about wrestling, are bringing a series about the sport’s 1980s heyday to NBC.
The network ordered up a pilot episode from Bruckheimer’s production company, which will tag-team the project with, among others, ’90s wrestling star Johnson (formerly known as The Rock).
The semi-fictional drama will focus on wrestling’s rise in the 1980s, and it will mark a change of pace for Bruckheimer, whose small-screen efforts seem to primarily be focused on police-procedural shows (the CSI franchise, et al.) and The Amazing Race.
