Can you imagine TV without a little Don Draper on Sunday nights? Perish the thought. And that’s exactly what AMC hopes to drive home with their latest ad in protest of Dish Network’s threat to drop the beloved channel.
The ad, which is set to run in June 8’s Wall Street Journal, aims to put the fear of Mr. Draper in the folks at Dish, and urges fans to take action to keep AMC on their televisions. And if Don’s cool stare wasn’t enough, we’re reminded that the Season 5 finale is just days away.
AMC and Dish have been wrapped up in a contract dispute as AMC’s expires at the end of June. After Mad Men aired ads protesting the potential drop, Dish moved the cable network to the upper regions of the television channel spectrum — where few viewers will boldly go.
And while there are only a few short days until Mad Men’s final Season 5 showing, it is Breaking Bad which starts in July, well after the current contract expires, that is truly worrisome. Here’s hoping this intimidating ad does the trick!
