Well, well, well. Looks like we have an answer to whether or not MTV’s Skins will have the raw and edgy material that the original sported. This all new trailer features plenty of drugs, partying, sex, underage drinking, drugs, stuffing a lot of people in a car, drugs and a little more sex. Granted, this isn’t material to be found in the show, it was created specifically for promotional purposes, but if they took the time to create this beautiful short (which it basically is), they would have to take as much care while producing the show. Sure, the play-it-in-reverse gimmick isn’t the newest technique in the book, but it really works in here.
And lets be honest, the drugs and sex are not the main focus of the show. Though it was refreshing to see a realistic portrayal of teen life, what kept us coming back week after week was the relationships. I didn’t watch to see someone smoke weed or hook up with a girl. I watched because I cared about Sid, Tony and Cassie. In the end they can’t censor that.
I’m feeling more and more confident about this remake. Bring it on.
