Finally! Lindsay Funke and brother Buster will have something in common: they’re both monsters! Well, sort of; Portia De Rossi has been confirmed to play Lily Munster in NBC’s new series Mockingbird Lane. (Whereas Buster Funke just IS a monster thanks to his claw hand.) Her hiring rounds out a highly intriguing (and seemingly exciting) cast that features Jerry O’Connell and Eddie Izzard. The show is a re-imagining of the 1960s sitcom The Munsters. O’Connell plays Herman Munster, with Izzard taking the helm on Grandpa.
With writing from Bryan Fuller and direction by Bryan Singer, Mockingbird Lane is slowly shaping up to be a show to watch out for next season. De Rossi already proved her comedic chops in the brilliant fan favorite Arrested Development, so there’s little doubt that she will fit in well with the likes of O’Connell and Izzard–even though to show is said to take the format of a one hour drama. Add to that the visual style that Singer made himself known for with Pushing Daisies and, well, it all sounds like very good things for the network. Seems hard to believe that with a cast as strong as that, there won’t be at least a little bit of funny business taking place on the show.
The only question that’s left is: how will De Rossi look as a brunette?
What do you think about the casting of Portia in the reboot? Are you looking forward to Mockingbird Lane? Let us know in the comments!
