Luke Grimes Returns as Kayce Dutton in New Yellowstone Spinoff CBS Series

CBS is saddling up with a Yellowstone spinoff series starring Luke Grimes, titled Marshals, which is set to premiere as part of the network’s 2025-26 lineup. Announced by CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach, the show will debut on Sunday nights and follow Grimes’ character Kayce Dutton as he transitions from the Yellowstone ranch to the U.S. Marshals.

Grimes, known for his stoic and emotionally complex portrayal of John Dutton’s son, will bring Kayce’s Navy SEAL background and cowboy grit into the world of law enforcement across Montana’s rugged terrain. Though few plot details have been released, Marshals promises to blend modern Western drama with procedural action, aiming to captivate fans of Yellowstone and CBS crime dramas alike.

What We Know About Marshals and the Future of the Yellowstone Universe

While Marshals marks the first major Yellowstone spinoff to air on CBS, fans are still awaiting news about other characters from the original series. Whether Kelsey Asbille’s Monica Dutton will join her on-screen husband remains unknown. Meanwhile, beloved Yellowstone characters Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) are rumored to star in their own project.

The show will also stream on Paramount+, following its network premiere. As for Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, CBS has yet to confirm the extent of his involvement in Marshals, though executives hinted that his creative influence—however limited—will remain present.

With Yellowstone concluding its run and more spinoffs on the horizon, CBS and Paramount are doubling down on expanding the franchise’s footprint. One thing’s for sure: fans hungry for more Dutton drama won’t have to wait long.
