ABC Developing ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ Series?

The Lincoln LawyerAs what seems to be the trend with law-related films, 2011’s The Lincoln Lawyer is in the process of being developed into a TV series for ABC. The successful film starred Matthew McConaughey as the lead, a less-than-admirable defense attorney who turns over a new leaf, Jerry Maguire-style, when his affluent client introduces him to an airtight means of corrupting the litigation process for profit. Mickey Haller, McConaughey’s character, is the subject of four Michael Connelly novels, including the film’s eponymous source material.

What with The Lincoln Lawyer’s healthy box office performance, as well as four novels already available from which to derive script ideas, the network clearly has reason to be comfortable in the adaptation of Mickey Haller’s story into a series. Connelly himself is working on the pilot script along with John Romano, writer of the film adaptation. Romano’s additional credits include the scripts for films such as The Third Miracle and Nights in Rodanthe, and for television series including Monk, HawthoRNe and Cop Rock. The pair will also executive produce.
