‘Dallas’ Plans Proper Funeral, Storyline for J.R. Following Larry Hagman’s Death

Larry Hagman JR Dallas Funeral

TNT promised to give J.R. Ewing a proper sendoff following the November death of Larry Hagman, the man who played the iconic Dallas villain for many years, and now network programming head Michael Wright has a few more details to share about how the second season of TNT’s reboot will pay tribute to the legend.

Hagman died after shooting several episodes of Season Two, so the writers will incorporate his passing with “an episode that includes J.R.’s funeral,” as network brass mentioned in December, Wright tells TV reporters at the 2013 Television Critics Association winter press tour. However, Wright says there will be more to that narrative thread, including “a storyline to follow that we believe would make Larry very happy.”

The eighth episode of the season will be devoted to the funeral, and original Dallas cast members who have not yet appeared on the TNT series could possibly show up to pay their respects.

Dallas Season 2 premieres Jan. 28 on TNT.
