DirecTV takes direct aim at football fans

Hoping to reverse a revenue slide and halt the departure of longtime customers, DirecTV is planning a big marketing push for its NFL “Sunday Ticket” package of “out of market” football games. It is also boosting the price of the package by $10 to $179 for 13 games played from September through late December, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. The newspaper noted that the NFL is also considering the possibility of allowing DirecTV viewers to buy individual games rather than forcing them to buy the entire package.
