For the first time in Fox’s history, the network is projected to win the November sweeps — and win big, says The Live Feed blog. Indeed, it could win the sweeps by the largest margin in five years. The network is up 20% from its November sweep period last year and is the only network to post a gain.
Along with the World Series, Fox’s other sweep strengths include Sunday night’s animated offerings, House‘s showing on Mondays and the new pairing of So You Think You Can Dance and Glee on Wednesdays.
TLF says Fox’s strength this fall is due to its consistency. Although it usually lands in third or fourth place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, it has no ratings craters.
Meanwhile, the network announced its midseason lineup on Tuesday, saying it will debut Human Target on Jan. 17 in one of four new additions.
The other new entries are Our Little Genius, Past Life and Sons of Tucson.
The new shows will mean that a handful of incumbents will take a hiatus, Variety reports. Among them, the most notable is Glee, which will go dark between Dec. 9 and April 13.
The net’s midseason kicks off on Tuesday, Jan. 12 with the two-hour premiere of American Idol. Our Little Genius, from Mark Burnett and Zoo Prods., will follow. 24 returns on Jan. 17 for the first half of its two-night, four-hour season premiere.
In February, Fringe will take a hiatus, leaving room for Past Life.
Sons of Tucson will invade Fox’s “Animation Domination” Sunday lineup on March 4 in the spot between The Simpsons and Family Guy.
Also returning to the net in January is Gordon Ramsay‘s Kitchen Nightmares, which will air Fridays at 9 p.m. starting Jan. 29.
Fox also said its one-hour special “The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special in 3-D! On Ice!” will now air on Jan. 10 at 8:30 p.m., behind the 450th episode of The Simpsons.
