Late Night Last Night: Ryan Lochte Is ‘Bringing Swimming Awareness’ to Your Living Rooms

Credit: CBS

Ryan Lochte has made it abundantly clear that he isn’t the brightest person. He may be a good swimmer — heck, a great swimmer… but that’s about it. There isn’t much upstairs. But somehow, the gold medal-winning swimmer has scored himself a reality show, What Would Ryan Lochte Do?, which airs Sunday nights on E!. On Monday night, Lochte stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman to have a chat about his new reality show.

Letterman asked how Lochte got the show. “The main reason I got this show is, you know, every four years the most watched sport at the Olympics is swimming,” he said. “And then after the Olympics, people tend to just forget about swimming.” So Lochte wants swimming to remain a part of people’s lives even after the Oympics are finished. “But um, I just wanna bring swimming into everyone’s living room,” he said. “So, bringing swimming awareness.”

Oh, and Lochte likes other sports too besides swimming. He likes to play beach volleyball, basketball, and to surf — anything, as long as it means he might get hurt while at it.
