NBC continued its crusade against its half-hour comedies on Friday afternoon when it canceled Ryan Murphy’s rookie series The New Normal. Of all current NBC comedies, only two – Parks and Recreation and Community – earned a renewal for next season.

NBC also picked up three new series: Blacklist, The Night Shift, and Welcome to the Family. Starring James Spader, Blacklist is about the world’s most wanted criminal who mysteriously turns himself in and offers to give up everyone he has ever worked with. His only condition is he will only work with a newly minted FBI agent with whom he seemingly has no connection. The Night Shift is an ensemble medical show following Army doctors working the late shift at a San Antonio Hospital. Welcome to the Family focuses on when cultures collide when a white family and a Latino family are bonded together by their children who fall in love, followed quickly by an unplanned pregnancy.

Writer Sydney Bucksbaum likes to think her hobby of watching insane amounts of TV isn't an obsession... it's not an obsession, okay, so just drop it! As the resident CW-lover on the Hollywood.com staff, she truly believes her Clark Kent/Dean Winchester/Damon Salvatore/Lucas Scott/Oliver Queen/Chuck Bass/Seymour Birkhoff/Wade Kinsella/Vincent Keller/Micah Barnes is out there somewhere, waiting for her, in real life (just go with it). After graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in journalism, Sydney has made it her mission to campaign for more shirtless scenes for her favorite CW hunks. You're welcome.
