New ABC Family Reality Show ‘Spell-Mageddon’ About Spelling, Not Witches

ABC Family has a new original show — Spell-Mageddon. Unfortunately, it’s not about a coven of evil witches on a mission to destroy the planet. It’s an hour-long game show where contestants take on hilarious distractions while spelling increasingly challenging words.

Basically, it’s Wipeout but with spelling — or so we hope. Maybe the big red balls with make a crossover appearance. Maybe contestants will have to spell ‘dictionary’ while someone throws dictionaries at them. “D-I-C-T-I-know-this-stop-trying-to-help-me-out!”

Maybe we’ll get really lucky and contestants will have to spell ‘armageddon’ while witches cast distracting spells in their direction.

Spell-Mageddon  premiers July 24 at 9p.m. And just to clarify once more — it’s about spelling. It’s not about witches or wizards (sorry, Harry).
