‘The Glee Project’ Might Be Canceled. Sorry, Gleeks!

The Glee Project

For the past two summers, loyal Gleeks have devoted their McKinley-free months to cheering on the aspiring triple-threats of Oxygen’s Glee casting reality show, The Glee Project. Unfortunately, fans of the hit FOX comedy will have to find a new way to get their fix of pop covers and teenage angst over the summer because The Glee Project has been cancelled.

Oxygen has decided not to renew the reality competition for a third season, TV Line reports. Despite having a loyal and passionate fan base, the sister show was not a huge ratings draw for the network. And although multiple young and talented hopefuls have made minor appearances on the FOX show, the only Glee Project member who has had an immense amount of success from the competition is Season 2’s winner, Blake Jenner.

UPDATE: However, a spokesperson for Oxygen tells E! Online that a decision has not been made either way regarding the show’s future. It’s worth noting that Glee has yet to be renewed for a fifth season, which could play a part in Oxygen’s decision.
