Trailer: ‘Bridesmaids’ Judd Apatow Teases New HBO Series ‘GIRLS’

GirlsEven with Game of Thrones’ second season on the horizon, some circles feel that the most exciting thing happening on HBO this spring is GIRLS, created, written by and starring Lena Dunham, and produced by Judd Apatow—the man behind every third movie you have seen since 2003. After a predominantly male-centric string of films, Apatow gave us his biggest hit yet: Bridesmaids, which won over America with its emotional resonance and comedic might. Apatow is following this success by getting behind another project that celebrates the ups and downs of the female psyche—the new HBO series GIRLS.

Lena Dunham stars in the series about twenty-four year-old women struggling to live and thrive in New York City, despite various financial and personal obstacles. From the look of the below trailer, the show is not holding back in any way. The comedy is dynamic. The sentimentality is genuine. And the cast of relative unknowns seems fresh and brilliant.

GIRLS will reach HBO on Sunday, April 15 at 10:30 p.m. The show will also premiere its first three episodes at this year’s SXSW. We’ll be at the Texas festival to review the new program, so check back with us next month!
