TV STUFF: Tube ‘Tiger’

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” is going strong in the theaters, but the Ang Lee martial-arts flick has already found a home on pay television.

Daily Variety reports that Starz Encore has purchased the exclusive pay-TV rights to the Chow Yun-Fat and Michelle Yeoh swordsman epic.

The flick will make its world TV debut on Starz in late 2001 or early 2002, with repeats on other Starz Encore channels.

Last month, Fox TV and cable channel FX nabbed the shared network rights to “Crouching Tiger” for fall 2003.

SO MUCH FOR QUALITY TV: The Associated Press reports that TV activist group Viewers for Quality Television has folded. The organization has been in existence for 16 years.

Dwindling memberships and insufficient funds were cited as reasons for the group’s dissolution.
