Wounded News Reporter Kimberly Dozier Returns Home

News reporter Kimberly Dozier has returned home after being seriously injured in a car bomb blast in Iraq last month.

Two of Dozier’s CBS colleagues died in the explosion. Cameraman Paul Douglas and soundman James Brolan, both British citizens based in London, were killed when a U.S. military Humvee was destroyed in Baghdad’s Tahariyat Square.

Dozier was taken to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, near Washington, D.C., yesterday after being flown from the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.

A CBS statement reads: “She will be assessed by the Bethesda medical staff, and a comprehensive care plan will be implemented.”

Dozier underwent surgery to remove shrapnel from her legs and head at a U.S. military hospital in Baghdad before being transferred to Europe. She is now expected to undergo an extended rehabilitation program.
