Because America just can’t seem to get enough Donald Trump -– and perhaps because NBC is willing to try absolutely anything at this point — The Apprentice is set for a comeback.
The reality series, which debuted in 2004, ran for six seasons before being supplanted by the current Celebrity Apprentice — whose third season premiered on Sunday.
The Peacock looks to capitalize on America’s economy and job-market woes with the Apprentice reboot: “The Apprentice is a proven brand, and we believe its return is more relevant than ever since it will provide new hope for many Americans struggling in this difficult job market,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC’s head of alternative programming.
Trump had this to say: “I am very excited to return to the original premise of The Apprentice. We’ve got to do something about the economy and this is a terrific way to provide jobs as well as business lessons along the way.”
