2000 Pre-Emmy Meet and Greet

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Aug. 26, 2000 — “I’m Bart Simpson! Who the hell are you?” could be heard reverberating through Universal City on Saturday as stars from new and current hit TV shows such as “The Simpsons,” “Malcolm in the Middle” and “King of Queens” turned out for the Universal Studios Emmy Meet and Greet.

It was a chance for the viewing audience to rub elbows with some of their favorite stars, ask questions, get autographs and view the prestigious golden Emmy awards on display.

With the Emmy Awards just a short time away, it was obvious that the stars had mixed plans when it came to attending the ceremony.

“I’m just gonna stay home with the kids,” said Nancy Cartwright, an Emmy winner and the voice of Bart Simpson.

Bryan Cranston of the Emmy nominated “Malcolm in the Middle” quipped, “I’m still waiting for my invitation!”

However, when asked how they would prepare for the day if nominated for the golden statue, the stars entered fantasyland.

“I would be so nervous, but I’d get a huge Frappa Flappa Rappachino before the Awards,” gushed Ethan Embry of Fox’s new show “Freakylinks.”

Kevin James of CBS’ “King of Queens” said, “I’d do some squats, eat and rest and then do some more squats, eat and rest and then I’d eat.”

Cartwright said she would just do the full body loofa thing before receiving her award.
