Genius in a Bottle
Katie Holmes has Tom CruiseCate Blanchett has an Oscar (you can decide which is the bigger prize) but Hollywood’s most popular Kate may be … in a jar? OK, so it’s skin-care-expert-to-the-stars Kate Somerville’s magic formula that’s actually all bottled up, but owner of the eponymous Melrose Place clinic the has plenty of Hollywood fans. When yet another Kate – Grey’s Anatomy star Kate Walsh – hosted a poolside party for Somerville to launch her partnership with The Spa at the Beverly Wilshire hotel, gal pals Molly SimsMarla Sokoloff and Julie Benz all stopped by to support their gorgeousness guru. The historic hotel will now be offering Somerville’s products and treatments, though guests at this soiree were spoiled with hand massages and champagne. Nice to there’s one Kate that will help you look good in this town.

Fit to a T
Joy Bryant may have arrived solo but she definitely brought her crew – J. Crew that is – to the Chateau Marmont when denim designers Dasha Zhukova and Christina Tang of Kova & T invited their pals to an intimate cocktail party in the hotel’s penthouse. “I know, can you believe it?” she exclaimed after revealing the label of her patchwork maxi dress. Though the actress wasn’t donning any denim on this night, she’s a fan of the jeans. Rachel Bilson and China Chow also showed up to show support for the girls’ sophomore collection. Their latest effort the designers have branched out to show corsets and dresses, though guests were still clamoring for the perfectly-cut jeans.[PAGEBREAK]Fashion Finds: Sunglass Special

On the Lam
Design darling Derek Lam will soon debut a new women’s eyewear collection that encompasses the same modern classic aesthetic that helped him win a CFDA award (that’s the Oscar of fashion). We got a sneek peak at the 50s style shades. Lam credits his inspiration to vintage frames – so it’s no surprise that actresses such as Kerry Washington and Emmy Rossum, who always ooze old Hollywood glamour on the red carpet, are fans. Retailers will be announced soon for the line, though we can hardly wait for the Tallulah (above). The glasses are all handcrafted, and come in classic black and tortoise as well as caramel and mauve. No word yet on if rose-colored glasses will be in any future collections.

Rockin’ Robertos
When not cavorting with superstars on his tricked-out yacht (and yes, the décor is pretty much all animal print) or riding his Segway around Cannes, Roberto Cavalli’s busy designing – what with Roberto Cavalli, Just Cavalli and now his just-announced capsule collection for H&M. He’s also debuted his latest luxe sunglasses studded with Swarovski crystals, such as the Agenore 305 (above). You know, classic Cavalli – and they even feel a little Elvis to us. Sharon StoneParis Hilton and the Beckhams are all fans. (Davante Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills carries the line, or you can look for a location near you here.) While we don’t advocate everyone trying the Speedo-and-shades look that David Beckham did last year while vacationing with the designer in the Med (though we do advocate David in a Speedo at all times), these are the perfect accessory to add a little bling to the beach. Sweet Smell of Jess?
Following the demise of her line of edible sex snacks, “Dessert Treats,” which memorably featured body frosting, flavored shimmer powder and whipped body cream (complete with candy body sprinkles for that extra sexy touch, especially if you get hungry during the encounter) in scents such as cake, caramel and cotton candy, Jessica Simpson announced that she will be debuting a new fragrance next summer. (Though Dessert is done, it can be found at bargain prices here.) Simpson says that the scent will express her personality through fragrance, though we hope that it is more sophisticated than silly. After all, she’s going to be a Major Movie Star any day now, right?

Less is (Barry)more
Famed fashion house Gucci announced that Drew Barrymore is going to be the first celebrity model in the Italian brand’s history, and will be the face of their fast-growing fine jewelry collection. Barrymore has recently been quite the model student: she’s the fall face of Cover Girl cosmetics, starred in last year’s campaign for Missoni and Giles Deacon’s capsule collection campaign for British cheap-chic retailer New Look earlier this year. The pics will be appearing in fall fashion books, but preview peeks reveal a disheveled Barrymore wearing what appears to be, well, nothing, save for some large Gucci gems. Perhaps after the disastrous green Gucci gown she donned to last year’s Golden Globes (the bra-less debacle landed her on many worst-dressed lists and resulted in a Saturday Night Live skit), creative director Frida Giannini thought less would be best.

Gucci’s New Direction
Meanwhile, Gucci has picked director David Lynch to direct the commercial for their eponymous new women’s fragrance. Lynch follows in the footsteps of Baz Luhrman who directed a commercial for Chanel No. 5 last year. Lynch is known for his surreally stylized works, such as Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks, and is bound to bring a new eye to a sometimes staid advertising category. Gucci creative director Frida Giannini had this to say in a statement: “Lynch was selected for … his never-ending search for beautiful images, his use of music and his modernity.” Well, technically we would call that an understatement.  >.[PAGEBREAK]Haute Shot

Red Carpet Ready
Michelle Pfeiffer rocked the red carpet at the Los Angeles Hairspray premiere with a Jenni Kayne dress, Louboutin heels and a Sergio Rossi clutch. The actress, who posed for photos with her husband David E. Kelley, used Chanel Precision Activateur Eclat Energizing Radiance Lotion with Georgio Armani Matte Silk Foundation to keep her stunning look amidst the flashbulbs.
