Every woman wants to look like a princess on her wedding day, so when actress and TV personality Sheryl Lee Ralph–from TV’s Moesha, Broadway’s Dreamgirls and dozens of those kitchy E! specials on celebrity and pop culture–wanted to add a regal touch to her upcoming nuptials with Pennsylvania State Senator Vincent Hughes, she went straight to the corner of Beverly Hills’ Rodeo Drive and Wilshire Boulevard and visited the chic Mikimoto shop.
The renowned purveyor of the finest in cultured pearls from the Pacific Rim, Mikimoto has been finding the best of the glorious baubles since 1893. They found a glamorous $16,000 tiara for Sheryl that was fit for a queen. Store manager Bernard Barbilla helped her select a high-class headpiece featuring a heart design with an oval of gorgeous Mikimoto Akoya cultured pearls, set in silver along with 1.71 carats of diamonds.
The Mikimoto store, which has also adorned Girl with a Pearl Earring‘s Scarlett Johansson, is set within the chic Regent Beverly Wilshire hotel, where Julia Roberts and Richard Gere checked in for the film Pretty Woman. So it was no surprise that when Sheryl left, she was one pretty woman indeed!
