Star Gazing: Celebs Out and About

The stars are always out in Hollywood, even in the daytime. Here’s a sampling
of celebs spotted on the scene recently in the City of Angels:

Dennis
Quaid
and girlfriend Shanna Moakler (Playboy‘s Miss December 2001,
by the way) at Crustacean, Beverly Hills’ most elite seafood restaurant. Waiting
in the bar to be seated was ex-Ally McBeal co-star Lisa
Nicole Carson
, her ultra-voluptuous curves conservatively attired (for once)
as she contemplated the eatery’s plexiglass-enclosed koi tank.

Actor
and Jersey Films exec Danny
DeVito
, looking very much the laid-back California Industry titan, and wife
Rhea Pearlman, deftly maneuvering around on a pair of crutches, checking out the
amazing art on display at the chic Getty Center with their kids in tow.

Singer
and actress Brandy,
gamely posing for photos and signing autographs for delighted fans during a shopping
excursion to Rodeo Drive’s posh 2 Rodeo complex. While Brandy basked in the limelight,
an incognito David Boreanaz–who
as “Angel” is used to sticking to the shadows–slipped by (almost) unnoticed.
The eagle-eyed (like me) were tipped off by his hard-to-miss blonde girlfriend
Jamie Bergman, the
onetime Playboy Playmate who stars in Son of the Beach.

[PAGEBREAK]

The
titanic twosome (or is that foursome?) of Salma
Hayek
and Dolly Parton,
lunching–separately–at the Dining Room of the Regent Beverly Wilshire hotel.
After her meal, Salma and gal pals slipped outside for a smoke break in the Pretty
Woman
hotel’s limo-lined driveway. Despite their, ahem, larger-than-life
proportions on screen, both glamour girls are too, too tiny in real life.

Rock legend Bob Dylan,
stopping in very, VERY discreetly at Shutters On the Beach in Santa Monica (where
the Lobby Lounge is a seaside favorite watering hole for stars like Al
Pacino
) for an interview with a journalist.

Sunny
Soleil Moon Frye,
more pulchritudinous than punky in adorable white go-go boots at the Hollywood
Canteen, a nightspot that dates back to 1940s wartime L.A. Today the Canteen has
been remade into a hipster haven for Young Hollywood-ers like Soleil, and the
Sabrina the Teenage Witch co-star spent the evening bewitching a table
full of youthful behind-the-scenes types from her series’ WB network.

Obscure-but-cool
sighting of the moment:
Comedic actor Frank
Gorshin
–best known as The Riddler from the 1960s Batman TV series
and still seen in modern films like The
Fisher King
–partaking of a late night meal at West Hollywood’s swank
steak house Dan Tana’s. Gorshin was a sensation on the 1960s nightclub circuit
with his manic energy and spot-on impressions of stars like Kirk
Douglas
. Both Tana’s old school regulars (including a contingent of celebs)
and younger enthusiasts (like me) eyed the former Prince of Puzzlers in awe as
he enjoyed his pasta.

Studly supermodel and romance novel cover boy Fabio,
stopping by the Pasadena Humane Society (one of the nicest, best-run animal shelters
in the L.A. area), looking to adopt a pound puppy. Yeah, like Fabio’s hard up
for companionship and unconditional affection.
