2001 comments: This was a fairly divergent year between the Oscars and the Globes, with a powerful foreign entry and a director who just had to have two Oscar nominations. Of course, there were a few obvious choices (Gladiator, Julia Roberts), but the biggest upset was Kate Hudson’s Oscar loss to Marcia Gay Harden…no one saw that coming.
