EW’s newest issue, which hits newsstands on Friday, reveals some behind-the-scenes information about Beauty And The Beast. While Emma Watson already makes the perfect Belle, apparently it wasn’t so easy for Dan Stevens to transform into the Beast. He had to film all of his scenes twice. First he’d film on set with Emma. They’d film him from the neck down while wearing a motion capture suit and stilts because the Beast is tall. Then, at a later date, he’d head over to a studio, cover his face in ultraviolet paint and film his parts from the neck up. This would be spliced together to create the Beast as we see him in the movie.
Beauty and the Beast is a masterpiece in CGI and is shaping up to be the Blockbuster hit of 2017. In 1991 the animated movie was the third highest grossing film and the first animated film to ever be nominated for a best picture Oscar. It was also transformed into the Beauty And The Beast musical which ran for 13 years on Broadway.
Beauty And The Beast hits theaters on March 17th.
