The first season of The Walking Dead saw the outbreak of zombiehood. It saw Georgia police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) waking up in a defunct hospital to a swarm of living dead, taking hospice in the home of a widowed man and his young son, traversing the infested streets of Atlanta and, finally, through the help of good-natured pizza boy Glenn (Steven Yeun, who we can only hope will have more screen time this coming season), reunite with his own wife and son at a camp in the woodlands. But the sanctity didn’t last long, and the group had to find new shelter: the super-secure Center of Disease Control and Prevention. Perfect! Well, not particularly. They had to high-tail it out of there, too. Now, Season Two is rolling around, and it seems from the poster below that the new promised land, a farm owned by a man named Hershel Greene (must not be a pig farm), won’t be any safer.
We can’t expect much in the realm of happiness and tranquility from The Walking Dead, so it’s no surprise that this new location will be laden with danger. However, the zombies are rarely the only issue. As we saw last season, the Dixon brothers (Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker) caused a great deal of trouble for their group. Tension has grown between Rick and his best friend (and secret cuckholder) Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal) ever since Rick reunited with his wife. So, the group itself can be expected to experience a good deal of infighting. Maybe that’s why Rick is running all alone?
The second season of The Walking Dead premieres October 16 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
