Blake Shelton was Nervous for Gwen Stefani to Hear His New Love Song

Blake Shelton felt “embarrassed” when he played his new love song to Gwen Stefani for the first time.

The country singer is gearing up to release album Texoma Shore, which features the song Turnin’ Me On, a tune about his relationship with the former No Doubt frontwoman, whom he’s been dating since November 2015 after they met on the set of The Voice.

While Blake consulted with Gwen on some tracks for the record, he kept Turnin’ Me On under wraps until the last minute and admitted he felt anxious for her to hear it.

“She was there when I was recording a lot of it in Oklahoma so she would hear the stuff that was going down,” he said during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday night (01Nov17).

“And I remember when I wrote the song and recorded it, and it was like, ‘Here’s another one.’ Because I didn’t want to say. It’s embarrassing. You don’t want to be like, ‘Hey, I wrote a song about you.’ But I did write a song about her.”

Even though Blake didn’t initially make it clear that the song was about Gwen, she quickly twigged on.

“She liked it. I didn’t say that I wrote the song about her. I just said, ‘Here’s a song.’ And then she figured out there’s a line in there, ‘She’s Revlon red.’ Because she’s the Revlon girl,” the 41-year-old said, referring to Gwen’s gig as a global ambassador for the cosmetics company.
