TV STUFF: Cutting Leo

So, did you see Leonardo DiCaprio‘s “interview” with President Clinton on ABC on Saturday night? No? Oh, then you must have blinked.

The network snipped and clipped the DiCaprio piece from 20 minutes to a whopping two minutes (featuring an equally whopping three questions). The quickie aired during ABC’s “Planet Earth 2000” special.

The Leo-Clinton chat came under fire from cranky “ABC News” staffers who were upset that the “Titanic” star had scored face time with the Commander in Chief.

In the end, the piece was a washout — as was the special. According to overnight ratings, “Planet Earth 2000” finished fourth — or dead last among the major networks — in its time slot.

KEEPING YOU ABREAST OF THE ISSUES: April 2000 Playboy Playmate Brande Roderick has been asked to add her considerable, um, thespian skills to the cast of “Baywatch Hawaii.” Roderick, whose resume is also highlighted by her running gig as one of Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner’s three girlfriends, is to join the cast next fall.

WHAT DOES CHRISTOPHER TITUS HAVE THAT JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT DOESN’T HAVE? Guaranteed employment next fall. Fox has renewed the spring tryout comedy “Titus” for a second season. The show, based on the comic stylings of one Christopher Titus, premiered in March. No word yet on whether Hewitt‘s “Time of Your Life,” also on Fox, will live on for a second year.
