Listen to Beyoncé’s New Single, ‘Best I Never Had’

Beyoncé released the third single off her new album this morning, called “Best I Never Had” and while it’s tolerable, I must say that it’s probably almost time to retire the theme of the “I’m better off without you because you’re such a jerk who didn’t appreciate me.” Think about it — in Beyoncé’s solo career, the mantra has been found in “Me, Myself and I,” where Beyoncé was kicking herself for believing that her man would treat her nicely. Then we got “Irreplaceable,” where B insisted to her man that if he left, it would be easy for her to find another guy in less than the time it takes for a person to decide to skip flossing for a night. And finally, we got “If I Were a Boy,” where Beyoncé told us that if she had just been born a guy, she would have so much fun doing all the shit that her boyfriend does to her to other girls. And then here comes this single, where she’s all, “honestly you turned out to be the best thing I never had.” Suddenly, songs where people compare themselves to their hair don’t sound so bad.
