Friday Night Lights Finale

The state championship is over — but you know what isn’t? The show itself! Thank God for NBC and DirecTV (the Lord Savior of the boob-tube variety) who’ve agreed to put out two more seasons, extending the beloved high-school football drama at least through 2011. So, now, we can watch tonight’s finale without that sense of “Is this goodbye forever?” dread (like we did the first time we saw this finale on DirecTV back in January). By episode’s end, Coach Eric and Tami will face some very surprising news, a challenge that will certainly affect all of our favorite characters in a big way come season 4. Our seniors are graduating: Matt, Lyla, Tim and Tyra all have the uber-tough decision to make on whether they should stay in Dillon or not. And Mindy and Billy’s wedding will be a peak of sweetness (and hilarity — white Texas tuxedos!), and of course, tears — what we’ve all come to know and produce by every episode’s end. But, now, it’s just the beginning …
