Each of the eight times swimmer Michael Phelps emerged out of the pool just to fist-pump heaven for winning yet again another Olympic gold medal — what was going through his head? Was it: “Eat my eighth medal, Mark Spitz!” Or: “Wassup now, teacher-who-told-me-I’d-never-succeed!” His already-published memoir will tell you (quick, right? Phelps likes it that way). What’s interesting is that the book, titled No Limits: The Will to Succeed, is divvied into eight sections — each chapter centers around each gold-winning race. So, not only is it a fascinating rewind of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but Phelps also elaborates on his arduous swimming regiment (55 miles per week!), his childhood ADHD, plus, the reason why his drill-sergeant coach tore down Mama Phelps’ “Congratulations” banner.
