The Shield Finale
(Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008)
It’s the last Shield. Ever. All you corrupt, badass, addictive, vindictive cops — we’ll miss you so. And to think: In 2002, when it first premiered, who knew there was a TV channel called FX, let alone where to find it? But if you lucked upon one of the best good-cop/bad-cop shows of all time (easily rivaling The Wire), seven seasons later, you can’t not be a loyal fan — in spite of the love/hate relationship Detective Vic Mackey (Golden Globe winner Michael Chiklis) fosters. In last week’s penultimate episode, Vic purges all of his awful deeds, and in return, he’s granted immunity, but his halo-wearing buddy Ronnie? Outlook: not good. But corrupt ol’ Shane? Sure! Vic’s got his back. But … protecting Shane’s pregnant wife Mara who just murdered someone kinda high-profile might be asking too much of Vic. All we know is, last week’s episode was unrelenting and, um, very awesome, setting up tonight’s finale perfectly. But don’t count on pretty bows tying up all the loose ends …
