Fresh Face: Chris Egan

His Current Gig: David Shepherd in NBC’s new drama Kings. This modern re-telling of David and Goliath starts in the land of Gilboa where King Silas Benjamin (Ian Mcshane) rules the nation. When his son and others are taken as prisoners-of-war, David impresses the king by defying orders and crossing enemy lines to save them.

You Know This Face … because Egan’s no stranger to the biz. He launched his career with a three-season run on his native Australia’s Home and Away. In 2003 he moved to Los Angeles where he quickly landed gigs like EmpireAlpha Male and Virgin Territory before stepping it up for roles in Eragon and Resident Evil: Extinction.

Why So Fresh? He’s headed back to the big screen for the Aussie thriller Crush. The 20-year-old plays Julian, a disgraced Tae Kwon Do champ, who leaves the U.S. to study architecture in Australia where he’s seduced by a mysterious temptress.

In His Own Words … “I play David and he’s this young guy who grew up on a farm, he’s just very down to earth and simple,” he tells UGO. He lives a simple life with his six brothers and his mother … Basically, in the pilot he makes a bold decision to go out and rescue some hostages, which changes the course of his life and introduces him to the royal family and to the king and a whole world that he’s not used to … I grew up in Sunday school and learned about David and Goliath and all that and it has always been an inspirational story to me. So when the opportunity came up to grab this and take this character and make something of it … I was really excited about it.”
