Friday: ‘Monk’

[IMG:L]Monk — 9/8c on USA

Just as most shows awaken from the three-plus-month hibernation brought on by the writers strike (which finally came to an end earlier this week) and plot their TV returns, USA’s Monk gets ready to sign off for the season.

But for the not-so-many diehard fans of the Tony Shalhoub series, there is solace to be taken: Tonight is only the beginning of the end.

It’s part one of the two-part season-six finale (which wraps up next Friday), a rare variation for a show that seems as set in its ways as its title character.

The tables are also turned on the plot, because Monk (Shalhoub), the OCD-suffering detective who always solves the crimes, is now the criminal–or at least framed to be.

And after escaping from a small-town sheriff (guest star Scott Glenn) and thus becoming a fugitive, he goes to Natalie (Traylor Howard) and Capt. Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) for help. Um, awkward!
